MSC Cruises’ new flagship MSC Bellissima has come into service after a glittering naming ceremony held on March 2nd.

The new addition to the MSC Cruises fleet has become the largest ship to be launched in Southampton. The event has captured the essence of the ship’s name Bellissima, which means “possessing intense beauty, delighting the senses,” with a stunning array of live entertainment and performances by world renowned guests.

Sophia Loren

Italian screen legend Sophia Loren was born in Rome and grew up in Naples. She began working at a young age as a character in photo-romance magazines and fought hard to win her first small roles in films. From there her talent and beauty made her an Italian and international icon, known and admired all over the world. Considered the most popular Italian actress of all time, she has won numerous awards, including an Oscar for her role in La Ciociara (Two Women). Loren is godmother to the entire MSC Cruises fleet.

Andrea Bocelli

A mellow and recognizable voice like a signature, which resounds in over eighty million records, Andrea Bocelli has been declared everywhere in the world the testimony of the highest Italian vocal tradition.

A record holding artist, of concerts in front of huge audiences, he beat all disco records. He has always been committed to spreading messages of positivity, hope, and perseverance at a global level, and in supporting social causes with the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.

Matteo Bocelli

Matteo Bocelli is an Italian tenor and musician. On July 2016, Matteo made his debut as a tenor in front of twelve thousand spectators at the Teatro del Silenzio. Performing alongside the likes of Leo Nucci and Sumi Jo, he sang arias from operas by Giuseppe Verdi.

In March 2017, Matteo participated in the David Foster and Friends competition for the Horatio Alger Award, in Washington. In 2018, he collaborated with his father on the song ‘Fall on me’, which is part of Bocelli Sr.’s album ‘Sì’.

Cirque du Soleil at Sea

MSC Cruises and world leader in live entertainment Cirque du Soleil have partnered to offer a unique onboard entertainment experience on our Meraviglia generation ships, each featuring its purpose-designed multi-millioneuro entertainment and dining venue, the Carousel Lounge.

Here guests can enjoy dinner or cocktails before watching the Cirque du Soleil at Sea performances.

A total of eight original shows will be created. The first two shows are currently available onboard MSC Meraviglia and now, two brand new shows are coming to MSC Bellissima starting March 2019.

Holly Willoughby

TV presenter and author Holly Willoughby is currently best known for presenting ‘This Morning’ (ITV), ‘Dancing on Ice’ (ITV) and ‘Celebrity Juice’ (ITV2), plus a recent stint in the jungle, co-hosting ‘I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’.

Discovered by Storm Modelling Agency at the age of 14, Holly swiftly became the face of Rimmel and body of Pretty Polly, and is now the face of Garnier Nutrisse Pearly Blondes and BB Cream, as well as Brand Ambassador for M&S. She is the author of children’s books with her sister Kelly and two baby books.
