Sustainability

There’s more to cruising

We are committed to taking meaningful, measurable actions that have a long-term positive impact on our guests, our employees and our planet.
We continue to work towards achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by investing in new technology and design, renewable fuels and operational efficiency.

Our efforts are organised in five key areas of action - People, Planet, Climate Action, Responsible Tourism, Sustainable Procurement.

Our decarbonisation journey

We have an Energy Transition Plan, aligned with our net zero greenhouse gas emissions 2050 commitment. The plan is influenced by three levers of technology improvements, operational efficiency and renewable fuels, with clear milestones to 2050 and continued alignment with evolving regulations.

Creating positive impact

Cruises offer opportunities to explore some of the world’s most fascinating destinations. We aim to support the communities we visit through well managed tourism, including partnerships with local businesses, investment in community projects and respect for cultural heritage. Through these actions, we seek to contribute to positive social and economic outcomes.

Responsible practices

Every year, we need to procure thousands of different items to run our operations, from engine parts to hand soap, crew uniforms to food and drink. We need to procure and utilise goods responsibly and enable recycling and circularity at the end of life.

MSC FOUNDATION

Every voyage makes a difference

The MSC Foundation supports programmes that nurture our blue planet’s oceans and ecosystems, assist vulnerable communities in need, and come to the aid of populations struck by humanitarian emergencies around the world.

With your support, we can do even more.

Every guest voyaging on our ships has the opportunity to support the MSC Foundation’s programmes and initiatives around the world by making a €/$/£1 donation.

This contribution can be increased, adjusted or cancelled at any time during your cruise at Reception or alternatively by contacting Customer Service within 30 days after your cruise.

What’s more, MSC matches every donation, doubling its value for even greater impact.
