MICHELIN AWARD WINNING CHEF PAUL RANKIN COOKS UP A STORM ON BOARD MSC SPLENDIDA

A series of culinary showcases presented by Michelin award winning chef Paul Rankin on board MSC Splendida last week proved a huge hit.

It was standing room only as guests flocked to see the Irish culinary maestro prepare some of his best loved dishes – and a selection unique to MSC.

On Paul’s fabulous menu were such delicacies as Escalope of salmon with soy mustard vinaigrette and Asian coleslaw; Duck steak au poivre with wild mushrooms; Crispy and almond crusted hake with lentils, vinegar & tartare sauce and Apple tarte tatin.

Aside from demonstrating his considerable prowess, Paul also ensured that there was plenty of audience participation. Several guests assumed the role of sous chef, whilst others took part in competitions that saw them rewarded with special commemorative merchandise.

Commented Paul: “I had the most wonderful time on board MSC Splendida. I was not only impressed by the ship and its facilities, I was blown away.

“I was delighted at how well received the demonstrations were and would jump at the chance to repeat the exercise one day.”

One of the UK’s most popular chefs, Paul Rankin won Northern Ireland’s first Michelin Star, whilst his trailblazing Cayenne in Belfast is among the country’s top restaurants. A regular on TV shows such as Ready Steady Cook and Ten Mile Menu and the writer of numerous best-selling books, Paul is also a passionate supporter of local produce, so much so that in 2002 he launched The Rankin Selection, a range of traditional foods now stocked in supermarkets throughout the UK.
